496 AD - Pope Gelasius I named February 14 as St. Valentine's Day.
 In 1537, England’s King Henry VII officially declared Feb. 14 the holiday of St. Valentine’s Day.
In the 15th Century, the Duke of Orleans who was imprisoned in the Tower of London sent the first Valentine’s card to his wife.
