Gertrude Stein was born in 1874 in Allegheny Pennsylvania. She was considered as a modernist writer, poet and art collector. At the age of 29, Stein moved to Paris and stayed in France thereafter. In Paris, she hosted a Salon which was frequented by famous authors such as Hemingway, Pound and Fitzgerald, among others.
She has published various novels, plays and stories such as as Tender Buttons, Three Lives The Making of Americans, The Autobiography of Alice B. Toklas. Stein was interested in the ordinary people, people who led the normal life and having an ordinary experience. She was also an observer of culture, arts, politics, and sexuality. Gertrude Stein was influenced by famous artists such as Pablo Picasso, William James and George Santayana.
